Thanks very much to Olivia at My Custom Cookies for offering her GreensGrow CSA share to me yesterday. Flooding was terrible in the area, and she couldn’t get to the farm.
we got them at greensgrow yesterday and am eating them plain. but you could make a pie or jam with them too. or put them in yogurt or throw them at your friends.
Dinardo’s “award winning” seafood restaurant was a trip back in time. A time when waitresses cursed, beer was american, and flies were part of the ambiance. Or so they tell me.
needless to say, i loved it.
a photo book shows the love.
ps sarcasm aside, the fries were actually really good.
ps 2: i grew a really large heirloom tomato that day. bigger than a human man hand.
I went to a small farmers market on Chestnut between 9th and 10th today. There were 2 farm stands, a CSA pickup, a blood pressure/general wellness check up table, and an annoying Greenpeace dude (bringing me way down).
The non Amish/mennonite/child labor table had a GREAT variety of hot and other peppers.
For one american dollar I got some hungarian peppers, 5 other peppers that i forget the name and intensity of, and 6 cherry peppers that I would like to stuff. Rachael Ray has a recipe here.
I went to Gigi to celebrate Kyle Kendrick’s win last night. Kidding, it was near my office and a coworker wanted to go out. But anyway, food was decent and it was cool and relaxing inside. Donnybrook stout was the drink and it is on tap is creamy and smoooth and pairs well with Turkey Club Sandwiches.
Oh and also, links and such: Gigi is a restaurant in Old City on Market street that is owned by Kyle Kendrick’s wife Stephanie. Who is a star in her own right.
Donnybrook Fair. video worth it for the crowd dancing shots.
